Where the Sun Shines

Since 2003 I have worked with Canada World Youth and Change for Children in many places throughout Africa and Latin America. This website has served as a medium to share my experiences, to tell my stories from "the field". This year (2010) I will be returning to Mozambique to work as a project supervisor again with Canada World Youth.

Here is a nice photo Ali took of me in Swakopmund, Namibia.

Mozambique

I have been home now for a few days and have thoroughly enjoyed meeting up with many old friends. Its been so nice to see everyone and catch up. I had one amazing Welcome Home party, where I played all my new African CDs and got everyone up dancing and busting a move on the dance floor of Janina's living room.

Now I plan to go through all my boxes of stuff I have held in storage here at my mom's house, and perhaps have a garage sale to get rid of some of the clutter I have accumulated over the years.

One big announcement I have to make is that despite rumours that I have decided to retire from Canada World Youth( thx Sheryle for the early retirement gift!), I have just agreed to do a second contract with Canada World Youth. I will be doing the Camrose-Mozambique-South Africa Eco-Leadership Program. The contract starts in early June, so I will have the next couple months off to be in Edmonton and I may do a little more travelling...

June through September are project development & training months, where I will be based here in Edmonton and eventually in Camrose. Then in September the team will arrive and we'll live and work in Camrose for three months and then in December head to Mozambique for another three months. I cant wait, Mozambique was a lot of fun and a great place to be, definetly more challenging than Namibia but really interesting!
